Bike Classes for Kids in Medellín and Envigado: The Complete Guide (2026)

Whether you’ve been looking for bike classes for kids in Medellín since you moved or maybe you caught a glimpse of the ciclovía one Sunday and thought, “we should do that! Maybe your kid has been asking. Maybe they’re already tearing around the apartment on a balance bike and you’re ready for the next step.
Good news is, the cycling community is huge here! Free programs run by the city. A Sunday class inside a mall. Competitive BMX academies that start at age three. A program at the velódromo run by an actual cycling federation. And one of Colombia’s biggest BMX clubs, right in Envigado.
This guide covers most of them. It’s broken down by location, price, and schedule so you can find what actually works for your family, not just the one that comes up first on Google.

What to Know Before You Sign Up for Classes
A few things that will save you time:
- INDER Medellín and INDER Envigado are completely separate organizations.
- Envigado is its own municipality. It has its own sports institute (INDER Envigado), its own registration system, and its own programs.
- If you live in Envigado, you’re not locked out of Medellín programs, but the free city programs won’t be your default path.
- INDER Medellín and the Liga de Ciclismo are also different.
- INDER runs free city-funded programs across all 16 comunas.
- The Liga de Ciclismo de Antioquia is a private nonprofit federation. Same city, very different structures.
- INDER Medellín’s free programs require SIMON 2.0. This is their online registration platform (simon.inder.gov.co). You need an account set up before enrollment opens and spots fill fast, typically in January each year. Don’t wait until you need it.
- Helmet is non-negotiable everywhere. Every program on this list requires one. If you don’t have one yet, grab it before the first class.

3. Ciclovía Escuela - INDER
📍 Citywide – best family spots: El Poblado + Estadio
This is the most accessible option on the list. No registration. No commitment. Just show up on a Sunday morning and find the INDER instructors along the ciclovía route.
Ciclovía Escuela runs every single Sunday during ciclovía hours, open to kids and adults of all levels. It’s a learn-to-ride program embedded into the city’s weekly car-free even, which means your kid can practice on real roads that are completely closed to traffic.
Schedule: Every Sunday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
Cost: Free
One thing to know: This is great for a first introduction or for kids who need low-pressure practice. It’s not a structured multi-week program, but for families still figuring out what they need, it’s the perfect starting point.
4. Ciclo Kids - El Tesoro Parque Comercial
📍 El Poblado (El Tesoro)
El Tesoro Parque Comercial, Sótano 1 Sur, Plaza Palmas
Yes, this is a bike class inside a mall. And it’s actually really good!
El Tesoro converts a section of their basement parking lot into a dedicated kids’ bike path every Sunday morning. The space is flat, fully enclosed, and car-free which makes it ideal for kids who are nervous or just starting out. Especially great during rainy season too. No hills, no traffic, no pressure.
Schedule: Every Sunday, 10:00 AM–12:00 PM

7. Club Bicicross Envigado
Envigado is its own municipality — and its kids’ cycling scene is almost entirely built around BMX. The good news: it’s one of the best BMX programs in Colombia.

Founded in 1988 with the motto Forjando Campeones Desde 1988, Club Bicicross Envigado trains roughly 900 athletes and is one of the largest BMX clubs in the country! The program for young kids is called Mini-Riders, and it starts at age 3:

The Honest Take
Depending on where you live, I’d start with Ciclovía Escuela or Ciclo Kids both are free, zero-commitment, and a great read on whether your kid actually wants this.
If they’re into it, Mi Primera Bici is the most organized beginner program in Medellín.
If BMX is what they want, head to Belén (BMX Antioquia) or Envigado (Club Bicicross Envigado). Both are serious programs with progressive levels from balance bikes up.
If you’re based in Envigado and want a no-pressure start, the Sunday ciclovía along Av. Las Vegas is your best first move. Let them ride free before committing to a program. The ride to Ciclo Kids isn’t far either.
And if you’re going the INDER Medellín route, set up your SIMON 2.0 account today! Even if you’re not ready to sign up for anything. When enrollment opens, you’ll be glad it’s already done.
